Itinerary
Day 1:
Yangon - Sittwe
After breakfast, take a flight to Sittwe.
Arrive Sittwe in the afternoon. Check in at
the guest house or the hotel.
Afternoon tour starts with
the Rakkhine State Cultural Museum (observe
Wethali and Mrauk U period). Continue with
Phayagyi (Atula Marazein Pyi Lon Chan Tha)
where a large sitting image of Buddha – cast
in 1900 in Rakkhaing style- sit beneath the
shelter.
Proceed to Buddhistic Museum where the
resident monks
kept the Rakkhine style images most of which
date to Mrauk U period and a few date back
to Wethali period. In the evening take
stroll at the evening market near the jetty.
Overnight in Sittwe.

Day 2:
Sittwe - Mrauk U
After breakfast, charter a boat or ride a
ferry to Mrauk U (about four to six hours
depending on the boat) along the Kaladan
river and then through Aung Dat chaung, a
tributary of Kaladan river. Observe the
scene of Rakkhine. Mrauk U straddles the
Aung Dat chaung. Check in at the hotel.
Afternoon sightseeing includes Laymyethnar
(squashed-up version of the nearby
Dukkanthein and dates back from 1430);
Dukkanthein (built in 1571) and Shitthaung
Pyayar (built in 1535; the most complex and
well preserved pagoda in Mrauk U). Continue
to palace ruins (the walls and gateways)
said to be built in 1430 or 1553 according
to the other source. Conclude the tour by
observing the nearby museum. Overnight in
Mrauk U.

Day 3:
Mrauk U
After breakfast, leave for the Chin village.
Observe the tattooeed Chin people and their
way of life. On the way back, observe the
Kothaung Phayar; Paraoke Phayar; and
Minkhaung Shwe Gu Phayar. Overnight in
Mrauk U.

Day 4: Sittwe – Yangon
After breakfast, leave for Sittwe. From
Sittwe, take a flight to Yangon.
Overnight in Yangon.
